Mr Steve Simpson

Steve was taught to play a brass instrument whilst a junior band member of the Salvation Army in Blackpool. His first instrument was a cornet progressing onto horn and then euphonium with the senior band of the Salvation Army, It was on the euphonium he became well known as a renowned soloist.

Whilst in Blackpool Steve studied piano and music theory under the late Robert Atherton who was well known for his development of the Blackpool Symphony Orchestra. He also plays the trombone and E flat Tuba.

More recently Steve was Solo Euphonium for Brindle, Longridge, and Morecambe bands before becoming a Musical Director in 1989.

Conducting a number of local brass, wind and military bands and choirs, Steve has developed a reputation as a dedicated, enthusiastic music trainer with impressive results.


Steve is now semi retired having worked for the NHS for 31 years in Psychiatry. He is a brass tutor teaching in local schools and also at home. Steve is married to Anne and they live in Fulwood Preston. they have 3 grown up children.
